Previous Network Meetings

There have been two meetings of 'Hey Sis' members in northern NSW:

Lismore - June 2013

The first meeting of Hey Sis members in Northern NSW was in Lismore on 6-7 June 2013. Keynote speakers included Aunty Joyce Donovan, Dixie Link-Gordon, Executive Officer of Mudgin-Gal Aboriginal Corporation, and Christine Robinson from Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women's Legal Centre.

Newcastle - May 2015

The second meeting of Hey Sis members in northern NSW was held on 5-6 May 2015. The women who attended engaged in constructive yarning about sexual assault, and had their questions about police processes legal responses answered by staff from Newcastle Police and Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women's Legal Centre, and their questions about the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse answered by a Royal Commission Support Service. 

They also participated in introductory training on Understanding Vicarious Trauma, delivered by Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia.
